United Living Property Services supporting people into work

United Living Group is committed to inspiring and educating young people about careers in the placemaking environment, helping them to gain vital skills and experience, boosting their employment prospects.

Members from United Living Property Services and partners Wolverhampton Homes recently attended an employability summit organised by the City of Wolverhampton Council.

The employability summit provided opportunities for local job seekers facing barriers to employment to meet with potential employers. The events form part of the Council’s ‘Wolves at Work 18-24’ youth unemployment initiative, supported by local businesses, employers, Council partners and key stakeholders.

Anthony Pennant, Community Development Manager, said: “It was a privilege to attend the Wolverhampton Youth event with colleagues from Wolverhampton Homes, to meet and speak to young job seekers about career and training opportunities within our industry.

I spoke with one particular job seeker who had minimal experience and qualifications but was determined to find a job where he could learn practical skills. From this conversation, I am now in talks with our fencing supply partner, who can hopefully offer a work placement, moving towards a full-time role”.

United Living and Wolverhampton Homes have been working in partnership for over 14 years to upgrade the City of Wolverhampton council’s housing stock. Through a Strategic Construction Partnership which runs until 2028, United Living is delivering approximately £15 million per annum worth of new build developments and home improvements to properties across the City.

As part of the wider Strategic Development Partnership, United Living working collaboratively with Wolverhampton Homes and partners are delivering a £120 million package of regeneration works at Heath Town (across various phases), one of the most challenging areas of Wolverhampton.

The large-scale regeneration includes estate wide infrastructure improvement programme, internal & external refurbishment of existing housing stock, thermal cladding, additional and replacement car parking, new play areas, fire safety works, energy efficiency turn-key solutions and extensive landscaping, creating not just great new places to live, but also a heart of the community that residents can be proud of.
