United Infrastructure, one of the UK’s leading infrastructure solutions providers, is proud to announce that it has joined BEAMA as a full member.
BEAMA is the UK’s leading trade association for manufacturers and suppliers of energy infrastructure technologies. It works with Government, regulators and network operators to shape the policy, standards and markets behind the UK’s electricity networks.
Membership gives United Infrastructure a stronger voice on the issues that matter most to its clients and its people. These range from regulatory frameworks and industrial policy to technical standards and skills. As a tier-one delivery partner, the company will help shape these decisions rather than simply respond to them.
Membership also brings United Infrastructure closer to the manufacturers and suppliers it works alongside every day. By working more closely together, they can strengthen the supply chain and help projects move from design to delivery more efficiently.
This is an important step as United Infrastructure’s power transmission and distribution work continues to grow. Its teams design, build and maintain critical power infrastructure for the UK’s largest network owners and operators. Through BEAMA, the experience of those working at the front line of delivery will now sit alongside the voices of manufacturers and regulators.
United Infrastructure joins BEAMA as the Electricity Networks Sector Growth Plan is published today. The plan was developed by BEAMA and the Energy Networks Association (ENA), working with delivery partners and regulators. For the first time, it sets out how the UK can deliver clean, secure and affordable power. It also shows how network investment can support skilled jobs, supply chains and industrial renewal for decades to come.
The plan’s 10-year roadmap runs to 2035 and supports the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050. Delivering it will require around £181 billion of investment in the UK’s electricity networks.
Investment on this scale will depend on the companies responsible for delivering the work on the ground. United Infrastructure is ready to play an important role. It is already investing in the skills, supply chain capacity and delivery capability the plan will need. This includes apprenticeships, its own training academy and new routes into the industry for armed forces service leavers.
Neil Armstrong, Chairman and CEO of United Infrastructure, said:
“The Electricity Networks Sector Growth Plan gives our industry something it has really needed – a clear, shared view of the scale of work required, the investment that will take, and the people it will take to deliver it. United Infrastructure is very proud to support the delivery of the plan working with BEAMA and other stakeholders to bring the delivery partners perspective to the table. Our teams are already building and upgrading the networks Britain depends on, and we are investing in the skills to match, from apprenticeships and our training academy to new routes into the industry for armed forces service leavers. Delivering £181 billion of investment will need the whole industry working together to turn this plan into jobs and growth in every region.”
Griff Thomas, Executive Director of Energy Transition and External Affairs at United Infrastructure, commented:
“We look forward to working with BEAMA and its members to help deliver the Electricity Networks Sector Growth Plan and drive the reindustrialisation and electrification of the UK.”
As the UK accelerates the expansion of its electricity networks, United Infrastructure’s membership of BEAMA marks an important step in building the networks the country needs for a secure, low-carbon future.
