Building Better Spaces for Learning and Wellbeing at Mab’s Cross Primary School

Driven by a desire to make a positive difference in the communities where we work, United Infrastructure collaborated with our supply chain partners and stakeholders to support Mab’s Cross Primary School in Wigan in creating new facilities that enhance learning and promote pupil wellbeing.

Together, we helped deliver a new bike and scooter shelter, to encourage healthier and more sustainable journeys to school, alongside a dedicated Wellbeing Zone and outdoor reading space where pupils can relax, reflect, and enjoy learning in a welcoming environment.

Carolyn Smith, Mab’s Cross Primary School, said:

“A huge thank you to everyone who has helped to deliver our new bike and scooter shelter and Wellbeing Zone at Mab’s Cross Primary School. These fantastic new spaces are already making a transformative difference — supporting active and sustainable travel, safer school journeys, and the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils. Their impact will reach far beyond the facilities themselves, creating lasting benefits for our pupils, families, staff, and wider community for years to come.

We are incredibly grateful for the professionalism, dedication, and commitment of everyone involved. Thank you for investing in our school, our community, and our children’s future”.

Andrew Pinkham, Director of SHEQ & Sustainability, Infrastructure Services, added:

“United Infrastructure were pleased to support the creation of improved facilities for the pupils at Mab’s Cross Primary School. A huge thank you must also go to our supply chain partners, whose generous contributions of time, labour, and funding helped bring this project to life.”

The initiative demonstrates the positive impact that can be achieved when businesses, schools, and supply chain partners work together to support local communities. The new facilities will provide a lasting legacy for pupils and staff, helping to create an environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

A special thank you goes to all our partners and key suppliers whose support, expertise, and generosity made this project possible. Without their contributions, the project would not have been achieved.
