The Mason Foundation is a UK-wide charity dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating brighter futures for individuals and communities. Through its ‘Propel Programme’, it supports neurodivergent young people and those with learning differences to develop skills, confidence, and pathways into employment. Supported by over 300 volunteers, the Foundation combines national reach with local insight to delivering lasting social impact.
In addition to supporting neurodivergent young people, the Foundation also supports companies and businesses in training workplaces with neurodivergent staff.
United Infrastructure recently partnered with The Mason Foundation to honour the legacy of Tyron Stalsburg, a valued friend, champion, and unwavering supporter of the Foundation’s mission.
Tyron was highly respected throughout the construction industry and known for his commitment to creating positive social change. Passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals and communities, he led with generosity, compassion, and purpose in everything he did. His impact continues to inspire those who knew him and who benefited from his support.
Recognising the importance of creating opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, Charlie Bishop, Commercial Manager, and Lucy Hollis, Head of Business Development, volunteered as mentors on a programme delivering training, work experience, and apprenticeship opportunities across London and Kent.
Selected to provide guidance and support to young adults throughout their journey, they committed significant time to preparing for the role, undertaking comprehensive mentor training, focused on safeguarding and supporting vulnerable young people and those with additional needs.
Through their involvement, they are helping participants build confidence, navigate challenges, and take positive steps towards employment and future career opportunities. Their commitment reflects a passion for supporting the next generation and ensuring that young people have access to the guidance, encouragement, and opportunities they need to succeed.
Our recent site visit welcomed six students from the Mason Foundation to our Wenlock Studios site. The students got the chance to understand how a site operates, its day-to-day activities, and safety protocols, as well as the overall project works and timelines to completion. In the afternoon, the students were able to sit down and chat to our team about career pathways into construction and the types of roles available to them.
Charlie Bishop, Commercial Manager, Social Infrastructure said:
“The site visit provided the students with a great opportunity to experience a live construction site and a real working environment.
The students were really well engaged, and it was nice to see their curiosity and enthusiasm towards the construction industry, potential roles, and pathways available.”
Overall, the day was a huge success, with excellent feedback received from the students who attended.
