United Living wins Northumbrian Water Smart Metering Framework

United Living Group, the provider of infrastructure, affordable housing, property services, and telecoms, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, United Living Infrastructure Services (ULIS), has won a Framework place with Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) as Smart Metering Solution Installation Partner in the North East of England.

The three-year Framework with an option to extend for a further five years will see ULIS help Northumbrian Water achieve a fully smart meter portfolio by 2035. Over the next ten years this transformation programme will involve the installation of over 760,000 smart meters during this period, including an estimated 700,000 households and 60,000 non-households across the North East of England.

Northumbrian Water are seeking long term strategic partnerships with experienced organisations such as United Living. We will be carrying out surveys, replacing existing meters with smart meters and sharing water efficiency advice and information with customers.

Campbell Crawford, Managing Director, United Living Infrastructure Services, said:

“We’re delighted to be a part of this transformational smart meter programme which will deliver improvements for Northumbrian Water’s customers and the sustainability of future water supplies. This award is built upon our long term relationship with our client and testament to United Living’s metering capabilities. We look forward to working closely to help deliver this transformational programme in an efficient and customer friendly manner.”

Gary Adams, Head of Metering Operations and Smart Transformation Northumbrian Water said:

“We are delighted to be working with United Living to support us with our ambitious smart metering plans for the NorthEast.   Smart metering is a key enabler to NWG achieving critical business targets including a reduction in Per Capita Consumption, addressing leakage and supporting customers with water efficiency. The installation of smart meters will support customers to save water and find leaks faster. The new smart meters can provide near real time readings accessed near real time through NWG’s app or online platform; this enables customers to manage their bills and understand how small changes in consumption can have a positive impact.”
