United Infrastructure to deliver roll out of smart meters for Northumbrian Water

We are pleased to announce that United Infrastructure has been awarded a contract by Northumbrian Water as its smart metering solution installation partner in the North East of England.

The three-year contract with an option to extend for five years will see United Infrastructure help Northumbrian Water achieve a fully smart meter portfolio by 2035. This transformation programme will involve the installation of 750,000 meters during this period.

The smart meter rollout will empower Northumbrian Water’s customers with near real-time data on their water usage, helping them make informed decisions to conserve water and reduce their bills. At the same time, allowing Northumbrian Water to detect and repair leaks more quickly minimises water loss and disruptions, ensuring the long-term sustainability of water resources and helping to protect the environment.

United Infrastructure’s expert engineering team will work alongside Northumbrian Water to deliver an end-to-end service to deliver meter installations to make the process easy to administer, including use of core IT systems, planning and scheduling of work.

United Infrastructure has a longstanding, collaborative relationship with Northumbrian Water. Its engineer-led expertise has helped maintain the water network across the whole of the Northumbrian Water supply area since 2005 – ensuring a resilient water supply for the North East of England.
