United Living awarded funding for Digital Inspector project by Ofgem and Innovate UK

United Living Group, the provider of infrastructure, affordable housing, and property services, is pleased to announce its subsidiary, United Living Infrastructure Services (ULIS), has been awarded funding through Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) managed in partnership with Innovate UK for the Company’s Digital Inspector project.

The project, which is a collaboration with Cadent, Triton, TWI, UK Research and Innovation, will improve energy system resilience and robustness by using cutting-edge real time data and monitoring technology to manage welding across multiple locations. By identifying any issues in real time the inspection process is streamlined leading to a significant improvement in quality and cost and a reduction in down time.

SIF is a fund established by the UK energy regulator, Ofgem, to support innovative projects that can bring benefits which help build the economy, reach net zero, and benefit energy consumers.

The fund is part of Ofgem’s wider Innovation Link program, which aims to encourage the development and deployment of innovative solutions in the energy sector.

The funding will enable United Living to develop and test the technology in real-world situations and refine the algorithms to ensure they are accurate and reliable. The project is expected to take 18 months to complete, after which the technology will be rolled out across United Living’s operations.

Benn Cottrell, Managing Director – Energy, United Living Infrastructure Services, commented: “We are very proud that our Digital Inspector project has been awarded funding.

Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund in partnership with Innovate UK recognises examples of progress and innovation that can help build the economy, achieve net zero, and benefit energy consumers. The project demonstrates our innovative approach and is aligned with our vision to produce sustainable solutions for our customers and wider stakeholders”.
