United Living Infrastructure Services wins gas pipeline contract from SGN

United Living Group, the provider of infrastructure, affordable housing, property services, and telecoms, has strengthened its position as a key partner to the gas industry network after being awarded a contract by SGN (previously Scotia Gas Networks) for an above-ground installation (AGI) project on a gas pipeline in Dorset.

Delivered through its subsidiary, United Living Infrastructure Services (ULIS), the project will draw on its engineering expertise to reconstruct the pressure reduction streams and the preheat system, along with the decommissioning and removal of existing pipework at the Mappowder Offtake. The Offtake supplies customers across Dorset from Lyme Regis to Bournemouth.

AGIs play a pivotal role in the UK’s gas infrastructure, as they control the flow and pressure of gas whilst facilitating the connection of industrial customers to the existing natural gas network. The maintenance of these offtakes is crucial in shaping sustainable gas systems that align with the UK’s future needs.

Conor Bray, Managing Director at United Living Infrastructure Services, commented:

“We are delighted to be chosen as SGN’s partner on this complex gas pipeline design and construction project. We are committed to ensuring that the UK’s gas network is resilient and fit for the future, and helping SGN to provide outstanding value for their customers.

“As the Mappowder Offtake has surpassed 45 years in service, it is imperative to carry out replacement and modification works to enhance the longevity of the installation, ensure the health of the asset, and maintain compliance with hazardous area requirements.”

Ben Harbach, Project Manager for Major Projects at SGN, commented:

“The project at Mappowder AGI is a key component of our current package of works across the southern gas network. The upgrades we are putting into effect will ensure that gas supplies continue to flow safely and securely for many years to come and provide a more energy efficient solution for the operational requirements of the site.

“We are looking forward to another successful partnership with United Living Infrastructure Services who have a strong ethos that aligns closely with our own values, especially when it comes to safety and making sure that every member of the delivery team is valued for their contribution.”
