United Living wins a place on Pretium’s rooftop development framework

United Living Group, the provider of infrastructure, housing, and property services, is pleased to announce that United Living Property Services (ULPS) has been awarded a place on Pretium Framework Ltd’s (Pretium) new rooftop development framework. Pretium, part of the Echelon Group, develops and manages specialist PCR 2015-compliant frameworks on behalf of contracting authorities operating in the public sector.

ULPS will provide building and fit-out works under Lot 2 of the framework, including external fabric, internal structures, plumbing, heating, electrical and decoration.

The rooftop development framework will help local authorities build additional homes on top of existing low-rise buildings. This method has been recognised as a way of creating new homes with minimal disruption to existing communities, as well as generating investment for residential buildings that are in need of repair.

Simon Will, Managing Director, United Living Property Services, commented: “We are delighted to have been chosen to help Pretium build and fit out new homes under their rooftop development framework for Watford Community Housing. This method has proven to be more sustainable and cost-effective than constructing properties from the start, which aligns closely with United Living’s commitment to closely considering the social, economic, and environmental benefits of each project we undertake.”

Nick Hann, Head of Frameworks, Pretium, said: “Using under-utilised rooftops to create much-needed homes, rather than building new houses from scratch, has many benefits.  As well as providing a practical solution where space is limited, it is cheaper and more sustainable to enhance an existing building than to construct a new one.

Our new framework provides a one-stop solution, supporting housing providers to scope out potential rooftop developments, and taking them through every step of the construction and fit-out process.

We are absolutely overwhelmed by the interest that this framework is already generating and look forward to seeing the first projects develop.”
